Mid Year Assessment results

Students will find the Mark Scheme for the test to the right of this blog entry. We will be reviewing the test in class. Students should also be meeting the weekly deadlines for the Unit 2 coursework Tasks. Task 1 should be complete up to the design of your own flyer. There is a new deadline for this Friday – keep to it!

Unit 2 Part 1 Flyer

I’ve decided that some of the guidance documents are very graphic rich and are therefore taking too long to open. I will be splitting these up into Task 1, Task 2 and Task 3 in the next few days. This is especially so with,’ IT2 Teacher Portfolio Guide’. Students have access to 3 types of Unit 2 exemplars; a local produce business, Rotheram Scouts, and Mikeys Sports. You should use all 3 to ensure that your background and ethos and house style section is text rich and your own work. Do NOT lift sentences from the brochures or documents.
There is also a presentation on house style and ethos. Use it! Today students should be looking to complete the ‘Data processing activities within the organisation.’ Be careful here that you state the main function of the document and its data, and that you state intended audience as well. It is essential that you show evidence of this with data and screenshots. This will mean that you have to scan in the 3 documents you have chosen to use. The 4 techniques which you have to identify as having been used in the documents are contained in the lists of basic and advanced features in the marking Grid for Unit2 – Task 1.
By the end of today students should have completed their work to Page 4 of the IT2 Teacher Portfolio Guide. Also have a look at Pages 11 and 12 from the Unit2 Guidance ppt. for further examples of the work you have to do today.

Your homework is to learn for your Midyear Assessment Test on Wednesday the 14th January. You will learn the AQA work. Tomorrow we will discuss sections to leave out of this test.

WJEC ICT AS Unit2 Task 1

Well, after discussing our move across to WJEC, we’ll start with Unit2. This is because we’re going to revisit the content and tweak it to fit the WJEC specification later on in the term. As discussed, the content is almost identical to what we’ve done.
